SCORES of people are expected to visit a beauty spot tomorrow for the chance to discover more about the universe.

Astronomy group HantsAstro will be holding one of the largest free observing shows in Hampshire, with a range of telescopes and binoculars available at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Clanfield.

The event is being held from 5pm as part of BBC’s Stargazing Live.

David Woods, who is from Clanfield and the founder of HantsAstro, said: ‘Astronomy is becoming more popular as families understand that they can explore the night sky together. Don’t worry if the weather’s bad – we have astronomy talks and videos in the visitor centre theatre along with solar astronomy talks and shows as well.

‘We even have tips on how to stargaze using your phone or computer. And if this ignites your interest in astronomy and you want to discover the universe, you can join your local astronomical society to find out even more.’

HantsAstro was formed in 2008 and has 300 members.
