GOSPORT’S cricket club has been given a £2,500 cash boost to help its women’s team.

The club was given the money by Sport England as part of an initiative to get more people involved in sport.

The money will be used to buy kit and training equipment.

The club will pay for coaching sessions at the Rose Bowl with former county cricketers Richard Logan and Richard Browning

Club chairman Pete Robson said: ‘Setting up a women’s team at the club has been a long-held dream.

‘We’ve been delighted with the interest shown and we hope to build on the excellent start we’ve made.’

Sport England is a government agency in charge of giving out millions of pounds in funding to sports groups.
