BUDDING boxers have been presented with awards to recognise their skills.
The young people, aged between 12 and 19, were presented with the ABA Non Contact Boxing Award after they used council funding of £1,500 to set up sessions at College Park in Kirby Road, North End.
Simon Millington, citywide sports project leader, said: ‘The non-contact sessions are to teach them the basic skills to throw punches, dodge punches and footwork.
‘For young people who are keen to try boxing it’s a good way for them to get started. It’s also an opportunity for them to learn skills and improve fitness.’
Sessions run until April. Visit iyssportsmouth.info/sports for information.
