HUNDREDS of people are expected at a fundraising concert tonight.
The Jam for Sam event is raising money for Fareham teenager Sam John. It will be held at the Thorncroft Halls in Gosport and all ages are welcome.
Sam, 16, is going to America to have life-saving protonbeam therapy to shrink an inoperable brain tumour.
Headlining the concert is Portsmouth-band Blackfoot Circle, who will be playing a mix of indie pop. They will be supported by a warm-up of three acoustic singers.
After the acts, a DJ will be playing hits until 1am.
Organiser Kim McGinley, from Stubbington, said: ‘A friend of mine told me about Sam. I went to meet the family and they were so nice that I wanted to do something to help.’
Sam’s family needed to raise money for the treatment as the NHS said it would not fund it.
The NHS eventually agreed to pay so now the family would like to raise enough money to send Sam’s father and brother to America to support him. They also want to help others in similar circumstances.
Tickets cost £12 and are available on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm. For more information call 07833 445460.
