RAISING £2,230 in a single day is no mean feat.
But that is the kind of support that the Holy Trinity Church in Fareham has attracted in its appeal to restore its historic clock.
Scores of people turned out to support the church fayre and donate to get the clock back in action and the tower restored.
The Reverend Sally Davenport, Rector of the church in West Street, was delighted.
‘There was a lovely atmosphere,’ she said.
‘We sold beer from The Fareham pub.
‘Lots of people came from the community. Lots of food and drink was enjoyed by all.
‘We had lovely music from our band.’
The church needs to raise half a million pounds for the restoration.
‘We are probably about £60,000 adrift,’ added Rev Davenport.
