IMPROVING health and fitness will be the name of the game at a community fun day being planned by Portsmouth Rugby Club.

The free event on Saturday will feature an inflatable obstacle course, tag rugby, boot tossing and spinning the ball through the tyre.

Other families activities will include a tombola, hog roast, face painting and cake stalls. Visitors will also have the chance to watch the three senior rugby teams play.

The fun day will run from 10.30am to 4.30pm at Portsmouth Rugby Camp in Norway Road, Hilsea.

The club’s director of rugby, Ed Neville, said he hoped to see a lot of people taking part in the fun day.

He said: ‘Taking part in any activity is good for us all, but being part of a team sport such as rugby not only builds fitness, but helps with discipline and nurtures great teamwork.

‘We are a family-oriented club and hope our community fun day will show what a great atmosphere we have here at Rugby Camp.’

Civil engineering and construction company 4D and Southern Water are sponsoring the event.
