HOCKEY balls are normally a bit smaller than this.

But people in Portsmouth were in for a treat yesterday when a huge 8ftt version was rolled through Guildhall Square.

Staff from energy firm Npower and the England Hockey Board showed it off to visitors as part of a drive to get more people interested in hockey before the Olympics. People also got to sign their names on the ball and roll it over a 100m track.

As part of ‘The Npower Big Dribble’ initiative the ball will now be transported to 39 other towns in the UK.
