MP Caroline Dinenage is urging older people to take advantage of activities to mark Older Persons’ Month.

This month, older people in Gosport can take part in community events and activities put on by the borough council.

And town MP Ms Dinenage is encouraging people to get involved in the different events.

She said: ‘Loneliness affects many older people in our area and is a huge cause for concern.

‘That is why I am so pleased that the council is working to tackle this problem and promote social engagement among the older generation.

‘I’m confident these events will help people to feel they are part of a strong and caring community.’

Events include an Alzheimer’s cafe which brings together people affected by the disease as well as an information session about keeping warm over winter.

Events run until the end of the month.
