A GOSPORT pub will put on an evening of live music in a bid to raise money for its football team.

Rock band The Monkey Butlers will perform at The Market House Tavern, in Forton Road, on Friday.

The event, which kicks off at 7pm, will include a barbecue and a raffle with 25 prizes up for grabs.

Money raised will go towards buying a new kit for the pub’s 11-a-side football team, which plays in Solent Football League division two.

Dave Knight, assistant manager of the squad, said: ‘We’re hoping for a big turnout and we hope to raise as much money as possible. Our current kit is old and needs replacing.’
