SCOUTS have received a large cash boost to help improve their facilities in the community.

The 3rd Portchester Scouts group will get £5,000 of funding from Hampshire County Council after council leader Councillor Ken Thornber awarded the grant

The money will be used to replace the roof at Cobham Hall where the club meets and hosts variety of activities for youngsters.

The Portchester group was first formed in 1947.

Cllr Thornber said: ‘This grant of funding will enable the 3rd Portchester Scouts to continue to use their local facilities for years to come.

‘It will help ensure that that more and more youngsters are encouraged to reach their full potential.’
