THE uncle of a young boy who defied doctors to walk 100 steps was raising money to fund his physiotherapy.

Rob Deakin, 46, who is from Hayling Island, ran to raise money and awareness for Samuel’s Fund. Sam, who was born with cerebral palsy, lives in Portchester.

‘We just sent him over to the States which cost £40,000,’ Rob said.

‘He had no movement from in legs. He had the operation in May and now he has done 100 steps.

‘So far I have raised £250 for him.’

After the run, which was Rob’s fourth, he said: ‘It was horrible when we got around the eight-mile corner.

‘I knew what was coming.’
