MEDICAL director and founder of Perfect Skin Solutions Dr Dev Patel was awarded Cosmetic Therapist Of The Year.
He said: ‘I am naturally proud to be recognised for this award.
‘I look on it as an endorsement of the commitment both I and my team have to being the south’s leading aesthetic skin clinic.’
Dr Patel served as a medical officer in the Royal Navy for almost a decade before returning to the NHS as a GP.
In need of a better work/social life balance, he decided to pursue his special interest in dermatology and aesthetics. In 2014, he took the leap and opened a skin and foot clinic with his wife, Nishal, a podiatrist.
He said: ‘We continue to evolve as the business grows and indeed, are looking for both a beauty therapist and nurse to join our team. The fact that the lead clinicians are also the owners means we can have a stronger handle on the ethical code by which all our therapists practise.’
Dr Patel has been one of the pioneers of a technology new to the UK, which essentially achieves similar results to surgery but without the need for any cutting or stitching of the skin.
He has performed close to 100 blepharoplasties (baggy eyelid correction) with his ‘no-touch’ device.
He has also performed face and neck lifts with the device.
Dr Patel has also been invited to become a UK Master Trainer of techniques using this and other ‘soft surgery’ technology.
