OF THE YEAR
Andrew, of East Shore Way, Milton, works at Garbo’s in Southsea, and sometimes helps out at Garbo’s in North End.
Andrew said he was absolutely delighted to win again.
The 35-year-old said: ‘It is a good competition. It is a really good award to have to boost your career.’
Andrew originally trained at Highbury College and then continued his training at the salon he still works in today, Garbo’s in Southsea.
He said: ‘I enjoy it because of the fashion side of styling.
‘I really like designer hair and that’s what really got me into it and it’s interesting seeing the shapes you can make with hair.’
Prior to being a hair stylist, Andrew worked as a chef – a big difference from his present career which, while a job Andrew loved, was one that he said ‘you can only do for so long’.
Andrew said he was looking forward to next year’s awards, but added that he was having second thoughts about entering the same category again.
He said: ‘It’s a really good feeling getting the award and you don’t get that a lot, but I think it would be nice to let someone else go for it.
‘I’d like to let someone else win it because it is fun and it’s nice to be recognised.
‘Everyone needs that a little bit, it gives you a lot of confidence in what you’re doing.’
