HUNDREDS of entries came flooding in to The News for this year’s Readers’ Choice category.
This category gave readers a chance to nominate their favourite salon, even if they had not entered the awards themselves.
This popular category was a closely-run race between L.A. Barbers and Kate Preston, with L.A. Barbers narrowly taking the top spot.
It was an extra-special achievement for the salon as its owner Lisa Andrews also won the lifetime achievement award for her 25 years of dedication to the hair and beauty industry.
Lisa, 43, said: ‘I am absolutely speechless. It is amazing. It is my passion.’
Lisa, from North End, has two salons – L.A. Barbers in London Road, Widley and L.A. Barbers in High Street, Cosham.
She opened the Cosham salon eight months ago and was delighted to see it already scoop a prize.
She said: ‘The fact that it has won when it has just been open eight months is overwhelming.
‘The fact that the customers have gone out there and have been supporting us is amazing.’
The salon has had past success in The News competitions as it beat 30 others last year to be named The News’ Barber Shop Of The Year.
Runner-up Kate Preston, from Fareham, said she was honoured to have received so many votes.
Kate owns salon Kate Preston Hair and Beauty in Arundel Drive, Fareham.
The 46-year-old said: ‘This is fantastic for our salon. We are absolutely delighted with this award.
‘We had a fantastic evening and I’d like to say a big well done to all my team.’
