Hairdressing academy hosts a charity ball in Southsea

MORE than £3,000 was raised at a charity ball to support children with cancer.

The Hampshire Apprenticeship Hairdressing Academy hosted the ball at the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea in aid of the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment.

Laura Winkles, from the academy, said: ‘This seemed like the perfect charity as we work with young adults pursuing their dreams of becoming a professional hair stylist.’

More than 170 people were at the ball, which featured a raffle as well as a hairstyling and fashion show led by the academy’s students.

Ms Winkles said: ‘All students were asked to pick from either an avant garde theme, bridal or prom.

‘The students then created their look by making mood boards including colours and textures they wanted to
create.

‘All of the students worked hard out of hours to perfect their perfect look.’

Ms Winkles said the academy was already planning to host a similar event next year.
