THE parents of a newly crowned Olympic champion have sent her a letter of congratulations - from a post box painted gold in her honour.
Dani King, who used to train at Portsmouth’s Mountbatten Centre, took gold at the velodrome as one third of the women’s cycling pursuit team.
And this morning Lynn and Trevor King were at the post box in High Street, Hamble, to see it painted gold for her.
Royal Mail is painting a post box gold in the hometown of every gold medal winner.
Mrs King said: ‘It’s been overwhelming - we can’t get over it. I don’t think it has sunk in yet.’
Dani will also be featured on a stamp that is available today from 500 post offices around the UK.
