MOTORISTS in the Havant borough could be offered an out-of-hours permit for council car parks.

Havant Borough Council is considering proposals for residents’ permits for its car parks.

A one-off payment of £50 would allow people to park before 10.30am and after 4pm.

The move is one of several being considered in a review by the council following opposition to a borough-wide £1 an hour fee.

As reported, charges could be reduced to 80p in many town centre car parks.

The council is also considering lowering the prices of some of its season tickets because not enough people are buying them.

Earlier this year the authority indicated that it could start charging people who use Hayling Health Centre car park, which it owns alongside its pay and display car park.

The council is now considering negotiating with the surgery with regards to them taking responsibility of their section of the car park.

A final decision will be made in early 2014.
