The headteacher of Bosmere Junior School, Kathryn Robinson, said: ‘Filling the shoeboxes turned into a competition. House points were awarded for getting involved and the kids were spurring each other on to complete the project.

‘Our pupils related to these children and it was wonderful to see them fill their boxes with lots of lovely items, including toys, note pads, stationary and gloves and hats.’
