Havant MP flying the flag for local church

A HAYLING Island church has been celebrating its 125th anniversary with a visit from Havant MP, Alan Mak.

As part of the celebration, Alan handed over Union Jack and Cross of St George flags to the Hayling Christian Centre. 

Alan said: ‘I really enjoyed my visit and the flags are to represent the community spirit which the church promotes.’

The visit took place during the church’s Vine and Dine cafe event, just one of the initiatives to promote the role of the church in the local community.

Rev Karen Basett said: ‘Since returning to the church the congregation has increased from less than 10 to around 40. We are also launching a youth and homework club to hopefully attract more young people.’
