More than 100 children joined the spooky celebration at the The Swallow, in Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park.

The free event saw youngsters dressing up as everything from Frankenstein and werewolves, to witches and pirates – although there were strictly no evil clown outfits allowed.

Landlady Elaine Jones said: ‘The night was a fantastic success. It was brilliant just being able to see the kids run riot and enjoy themselves safely.’

Recent reports of people dressing in clown suits and scaring people had left children worried, Elaine said, prompting her to stage the party.
