Help charity by taking a snap of your teddy

PHOTOS of stuffed toys posing next to landmarks across the Portsmouth area are being sought by a charity.

The Roberts Centre, in Crasswell Street, Landport, is appealing for residents to snap up images of their beloved bears as part of a new competition to help celebrate the cause’s 30th birthday.

Called Where’s The Bear, the monthly challenge is open to all ages from across the Portsmouth area, and is backed by The News and the Spinnaker Tower.

Residents are being urged to dig out their favourite teddies and snap a creative picture of their treasured toys at spots across Portsmouth, Gosport, Havant, Fareham and Waterlooville, for a chance to win a free family pass to the Spinnaker Tower.

The idea is the brainchild of Carole Damper, the charity’s chief executive and is inspired by the centre’s own mascot, Robert the Bear.

‘The more creative the better,’ she said. ‘It needs to be in The News’ area and not on Ayers Rock or on the Empire State building.’

People have until the end of February to submit their entries when a winner will then be decided.
