A CLEAN-UP will get the community together to improve a lake.

On Sunday, July 26 a BIG Clean will be taking place at Hilsea lake.

Jessica Hunt, organiser of the clean up, said the aim is to gather the community together in order to get the water free from rubbish.

The 24-year-old said: ‘The wildlife are suffering from the poor environment.

‘I put the word out via Facebook and have received more than 60 responses.

‘It will be from 11am to 3pm, and anyone is welcome to come and help.’

Miss Hunt has requested that people attending bring spare clothes, and have safe footwear and a net.

The rubbish will be gathered together and taken to the tip.

Miss Hunt added: ‘A big job like this can be completed in a short space of time if enough people come together.

‘I’m proud to say the people of Portsmouth want to see change and are happy to spend time making a difference.’
