CYCLISTS completed the first leg of a 250-mile challenge in aid of young people with learning disabilities and boarded HMS Warrior for a drinks reception.

The 110 riders and support team enjoyed drinks and nibbles on board Portsmouth’s historic warship HMS Warrior before setting out on their challenge which saw them take a ferry to St Malo before riding on into Normandy, back to Portsmouth, and on to the finish line in Guildford.

The ride raised thousands for race organisers The Halow Project, based in Guildford.

Despite a weekend of unsettled weather the sold-out ride, now in its fourth year, was deemed a great success.
