A GOSPORT-BASED hospital radio station has had a boost after almost £400 was raised at this year’s Great South Run.

On Saturday, 12-year-old Ryan Merrikin took on the Junior run.

He raised £260 which will be split between Radio Haslar and the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps.

On Sunday it was the turn of Simon Wilson – Radio Haslar programme director and membership secretary.

Simon has so far raised £250.

Chris Pearce, station chairman, said: ‘The money collected from both Ryan and Simon will go towards maintaining and improving our bedside service to the War Memorial Hospital which involves maintenance of our studio premises and equipment and where appropriate investing in volunteer training.’
