Thanks to technology such as Facebook live, nearly 600 people across Portsmouth joined Children's Parties Portsmouth for a boogie last Friday.

Jayne Pannell, one half of Children’s Parties Portsmouth, says: ‘It was quite emotional knowing people were enjoying themselves.

‘With all the doom and gloom going on, we wanted to put a smile on people’s faces.’

For 40 minutes, children and parents danced away together and played party games while watching the livestream.

Jayne and Justin Pannell, who run Children’s Parties Portsmouth, are helped out by their daughters Annie, Maisie and Megan.

Jayne explains: ‘So many bookings had to be postponed so we put the virtual party idea out on Facebook and got interest. It was great.

‘We’ve been asked now to do a virtual party for a little boy’s birthday so his friends can join in too.’
