GOSPORT’S Explosion! Museum lived up to its name with the return of an annual fireworks display.

More than 1,000 people went to the museum, in Priddy’s Hard, to watch the fireworks and giant bonfire on Sunday.

Museum bosses are already planning next year’s event, which it is hoped will take place on November 4.

Visitor services officer Marc Farrance said: ‘The event was a huge success for us and we were pleased with the turnout.

‘The feedback we have received so far has been very positive.

‘It was the first time we have had a fireworks display for six years.

‘You could argue with a name like Explosion we should be having one every year.

‘We’ve already scheduled a date in the diary for next year so hopefully this will become one of our big annual events for a long time to come.’

The fireworks display was started by two-year-old Elodie Kerr, from Gosport, who was there with her parents Emma and Jon.

Families enjoyed a funfair with traditional hot chestnuts and Christmas punch and could walk around the museum.
