EMOTIONAL tributes have been paid to a teenager who died in a car crash as hundreds of people attended his funeral.

Luke Fletcher, 19, of Paulsgrove, died after a Nissan Almera crashed in Southwick late at night on Saturday, January 23.

Friends and family today packed St Peter and St Paul church, in Wymering, to bid farewell.

Speaking in church, Luke’s mother Sarah Hiscutt said: ‘I wake up every day and hope this is all a bad dream. Reality without you is so hard to think about.

‘You were always there for everyone but especially me and Robyn.

‘You were such a kind, loving person with a talent to make problems seem insignificant and more easily dealt with.

‘It was an absolute pleasure and honour to watch you grow into the young man you became, I am so immensely proud to have called you my son.

She added: ‘There are no words for how much you are missed now and every day you were my rock.

‘You have left such a hole in my life that can never be filled shine bright my little star. I love you to the moon and back.’

Mourners today marked the Fareham College student’s life before a private committal at The Oaks, Havant.

He was carried to church in a horse-drawn carriage from his mother’s home in Beverston Road, Paulsgrove, in Portsmouth.

A karaoke-themed wake was held afterwards in Luke’s honour.

His sister Robyn added: ‘I loved Luke. He was always there for me.

‘From singing to and with me, sitting with me when I was in hospital and taking me up the shop.

‘I’m really going to miss you Luke but thank you for bringing magic in my life.

‘Love you Luke my little/big brother now and always sleep tight.’

Luke died after the January 23 crash on the B2177, near the junction with Pitymoor Lane, when the car he was travelling in came off the road.

An 18-year-old man from Emsworth suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed.
