AWFUL weather did not make ocean swimmer Anna Wardley break from tradition yesterday.
The 37-year-old, of Alverstoke, Gosport, jumps into the water for a dip each year on New Year’s Day.
She was due to take part in the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service swim at Stokes Bay, which was cancelled for the first time in 30 years because of adverse weather.
Anna, who has raised £60,000 for charities swimming around five islands, including the Isle of Wight, instead took to the more protected and safer Stoke Lake in Alverstoke with friend Heather Lunt.
She said: ‘I have done the Gafirs swim every year since I lived down here – even before I started swimming.’
