Have your say

IT is now time for you to decide which business should be crowned small retailer of the year.

We’re on the hunt to find the best shop and the one that really stands out and shines brightest in our communities.

Your nominations have been collected, and a shortlist of the ones that proved most popular has been drawn up.

Now is the chance to vote for which business out of the list on the left is worthy of being crowned the best small retailer in the latest of The News’ reader choice awards.

Mark Waldron, editor of The News, has emphasised how important small retailers are and the influence they have on our local economy.

He said: ‘It’s time to vote and make sure that your favourite small retailer
gets the exposure it deserves.’

The News is a huge fan of independent stores with bags of character and charm and a love of the customers they serve.

We feel it is important to give these community stores with all of their different unique selling points the recognition they deserve.

As reported, readers were able to vote for any kind of small business, whether that be a butcher, baker or even a candlestick maker – just as long as the shop was based locally and employed no more than 10 people.

Everyone’s nomination also had to have a shop front and internet-based businesses did not qualify,

Those that were part of a national chain were also discounted.

Once your votes are counted, we’ll announce the winner and present them with a trophy.
