THE mayor of Havant is encouraging residents to join him on a sponsored walk.

Councillor Ken Smith will lead a four-mile walk along Hayling Island seafront to raise money for his chosen charities, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Dorothy’s Dream, The Rowans Hospice at Home Appeal.

Cllr Smith said: ‘This sponsored walk is one of the main fundraising events of my mayoral calendar. It’s a great opportunity to make a real difference to the local community by raising money to benefit the Air Ambulance and Dorothy’s Dream.

‘The walk is a social occasion with an opportunity to meet other residents and is a great day out for the family.’

The walk starts and finishes at Beachlands Coastguard Station at 10.30am on August 14.

Water and bananas will be provided by Tesco, in Havant and Fyffes.
