THE search is on to find the county’s long-serving volunteers to join in with next year’s celebrations marking The Queen’s 60th year on the throne.

Those who have given 60 years or more of voluntary service are bring invited to take part in a service of thanksgiving at Winchester Cathedral on May 27.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Dame Mary Fagan, The Queen’s representative in the county, said: ‘Hampshire people of all ages and backgrounds are well known for their tireless voluntary work and, like The Queen, some of them will have given 60 years of their time and effort to help others.

‘I would like these diamond volunteers to be part of our service of thanksgiving and I am asking organisations and residents to nominate these long serving people.’

Nominations can be made at hants.gov.uk/diamondjubilee or by emailing lord.lieutenant@hants.gov.uk. Nominations must be made by February 6.
