DOZENS of friends have vowed to keep on knitting for children in Nepalese orphanages in tribute to the woman who started the group.
Group founder Shirley Cripps, from Stubbington, died suddenly of cancer earlier this year.
Her friend Barbara Steel, of Priestfields, Titchfield Common, has taken over the reins of Shirley’s Overseas Charity Knitters. But their stocks of wool are running low and they are desperate for donations.
Mrs Steel said: ‘I promised Shirley I would take over her work.
‘We have about 30 knitters and they really enjoy it, but they’re mostly elderly and wool is expensive.’
The group sends regular packages.
