IT MAY seem a long way away but one charity is already preparing for Christmas.

Chichester Voluntary and Community Action has asked volunteers to start knitting for the annual Christmas fayre.

Last year an overwhelming number of generous people knitted gifts to sell and the organisation has sent thanks for the amazing response.

Now they are again calling on people to either knit or stitch toys.

The charity works to support other charities and community groups in the Chichester district.

Kate Scales, chief executive said: ‘We are trying to support local voluntary and community sector organisations in these challenging economic times.

‘We hope after last year we can continue to make this year’s fayre an even bigger success, raising vital funds to support these groups to continue their valuable work.’

Knitted toys can be dropped into the charity’s offices at 60a North Street, Chichester.

It is also looking for volunteers to help out at the Christmas fayre to serve tea and coffee, hand out leaflets and man stalls,

The Christmas fayre is on December 3 at the Assembly Rooms, North Street, Chichester. Anyone who would like to volunteer should contact Mrs Scales on 01243 528615 or email
