VETERANS of the Korean War are being invited to take part in a parade for St George’s Day.

Emsworth will again be celebrating on April 23 with a parade through the town, which will include veterans.

Norman Davies, from Horndean, would like to hear from other Korean veterans as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of one of the bloodiest wars in history. He said: ‘The conflict came so soon after the Second World War that the general public tended to ignore it then and it became known as The Forgotten War.

‘The parade in Emsworth on April 23, as in past years, celebrates St George’s Day but also commemorates the famous Battle of the Imjin River in Korea and the memorable stand of the Gloucester Regiment from April 21 to 25 1951.

‘Also this year we few remaining Korean veterans commemorate the end of our war and remember all our fallen comrades whose lives were taken in the conflict.

‘It is difficult to contact veterans individually, so I would like to invite veterans to get in touch with me to join the parade.’
