HORATIO Nelson will be the topic of a public lecture in Portsmouth.

The lecture will be in the University of Portsmouth’s Portland Building on Wednesday at 6pm, followed by a drinks reception.

Led by Sir Nicholas Bonsor, the lecture will look at why Nelson was such a hero and what makes him a fascinating subject for study.

During his lifetime Nelson was both greatly admired for his skills on the waves, and often derided for his personal choices.
