THE circus theme of a colourful carnival has been praised.
David Weeks, from Petersfield, is a volunteer ringmaster who led the procession through the streets to Stockheath Common for the annual Leigh Park Carnival.
The 71-year-old has been fascinated by the circus all his life and acts as a ringmaster at local community events.
He said he really enjoyed Saturday’s carnival.
‘It was great to see people really getting into it and dressing up as clowns,’ he said.
‘Lots of the children were dressed up too and looked like they were having a great time. It was a lot of fun.’
Dozens of people got into the spirit of things by donning outlandish costumes, wigs and facepaint for the event.
The Deputy Mayor of Havant Paul Buckley also attended with his wife Jackie and Carnival Queen Ellie Dunning, 16.
