LIGHTS will be twinkling in Leigh Park tomorrow as the Christmas shopping season begins.

A new Christmas tree fixing point has been built in Park Parade by Havant Borough Council, which has worked with Leigh Park Traders’ Association on the scheme.

The lights were be switched on tomorrow and Santa’s Grotto will also open.

From 1.15pm there will be carol singing by local schoolchildren and the Mayor of Havant, Gerald Shimbart, will officially open the grotto.

At 5pm there will be a lantern procession, which families can take part in as lanterns will be provided.

Councillor Yvonne Weeks, who oversees community events at Havant Borough Council, said; ‘This is a real testament to the council and traders working together.

‘And with the opening of the grotto in Greywell shopping centre just a day away too, Christmas is starting to come together.’
