THE votes have been counted and the winner of The News’ Cute Kids Competition 2013 can now be revealed.

Meet two-year-old Jayden Mitchell – this year’s cutest kid.

It was a bumper year of entries for the competition, with more than 500 proud parents putting their children forward for the competition.

But ultimately, it was Jayden and his cheeky smile which won over the judges this year.

Surprised mum, Helen Mitchell, was lost for words when she heard Jayden, of Heather Road, Petersfield, had won.

‘I was not expecting to hear this at all,’ she said.

‘It’s lovely – I’m so proud of him and pleased he’s won it.’

Jayden, who turned two in September, is ‘just another normal two-year-old,’ according to his mum.

‘He’s lovely and like many boys his age he loves tractors and cars,’ added Helen.

‘He enjoys his cartoons, especially one on dinosaurs which is shown early in the morning.

‘He also loves animals and enjoys being outdoors.’

Jayden’s love of the outdoors makes his prize even more fitting.

For winning the competition, the family have won a seven-night family holiday to a Pontins holiday park of their choice.

‘It’s fantastic and I’m very happy, Helen said. ‘It was a spur of the moment decision to enter Jayden.

‘We just happened to be at the Tesco in North Harbour when the pictures were being taken.

‘We entered him into the competition along with his sister Grace, who’s 11 months old, but didn’t expect anything of it.’

There were 518 entries in total in the competition.

The runners-up were Adelaide Davies, who lives in Fareham, in second place, and Bradley Blackburn, from Rowner, Gosport, in third place.
