THE reception for Darin Melville was anything but frosty as he crossed the finish line dressed in a snowman outfit.
The personal trainer from Roko Portsmouth completed his ninth London Marathon with a personal best time of 4hrs 47mins. He crossed the finish line hand-in-hand with friend Nina Barrett, from Horndean.
It was the second marathon for Ms Barrett and the duo raised more than £2,500 for Cancer Research UK.
Mr Melville, 44, said: ‘We did very well, it was a personal best. We had lots of support from the crowd. This year was probably the most well supported I have ever seen it.’
It was the 16th marathon overall for Mr Melville and he chose to run in a snowman outfit, despite the warm weather.
Mr Melville, from Farlington, said it was hot but worth it.
‘As soon as I put the snowman outfit on a complete stranger came up to me and gave me £40,’ he said.
‘I chose the outfit as my daughters love the film Frozen and on my back it said “some people are worth melting for”. We’re so lucky to have such generous friends and family. I want to thank everybody who supported us.’
