BALLET teacher and dancer Dani Bond has packed her bags and headed for London.

The 23-year-old has beaten more than 700 applicants to win a place in the London School of Musical theatre.

Dani will be studying on its one-year course and will get the opportunity to perform in West End shows such as Wicked and Les Miserables.

The dedicated dancer, from Waterlooville, has spent one and a half years teaching toddlers and young children ballet in her Baby Ballet classes.

But, the opportunity to train at the London school was too good to miss. She said: ‘This is something I have been working on for a long time and to finally receive recognition and to be given this chance, it is safe to say I am over the moon.

‘From the age of three when I went to see my first show, I was awestruck by the lights, sounds and story and I knew I wanted to be up there one day.

‘Twenty years and endless dance classes, shows and exams later, I finally have the chance to pursue a dream that has never gone away.’

Since graduating from university and getting a degree in drama and dance, Dani has spent her time teaching six baby ballet classes around Portsmouth and she said its sad to give it up.

She added: ‘Teaching has definitely not been a “stop-gap” for me. I have a huge passion for teaching and every day with my little stars has been so fulfilling.

‘Just to watch their technique, confidence and personalities grow under my care is exceptionally rewarding.

‘I found it so hard to say goodbye but the lessons I have learned from my little ones are ultimately what has given me the confidence to go ahead and pursue my dream.’

Since being accepted, Dani has had to raise money to help pay for the course.
