LOVE was in the air as Adam Watts popped the question to his girlfriend via Portsmouth’s big screen on Christmas Day.
The loved-up carpenter, from North End, had been planning the proposal for two months and he was delighted to get a ‘yes’ from Kirsty Simmons.
Kirsty, also from North End, said she was ‘oblivious’ about the surprise, which saw her duped into going to the Guildhall, with Adam saying they were going to meet his mum in Wetherspoons.
Kirsty, an English teacher, said: ‘I was gobsmacked. It was lovely. He’s a real romantic.’
Adam, 35, and Kirsty, 25, got together five months ago after meeting on a night out at the Lanyard pub, in North End.
Adam said: ‘She’s beautiful, inside and out.’
They hope to move in together next year and to marry in 2017.
