MORE than 250 homes could be built near Emsworth.

A trio of planning applications has been submitted to Chichester District Council for housing development in Southbourne.

The first application for 127 homes is proposed for land north of the A259 Main Road and west of Inlands Road.

Another plan is for 112 homes for land on the south side of Cooks Lane.

Finally, a development of 30 homes could be built at Loveders camping and caravan site, in Inlands Road.

To meet the council’s housing targets, Southbourne has been earmarked for around 300 homes in the next 15 years.

Southbourne Parish Council has been working to find the best sites.

Chairman Chris Bulbeck said: ‘We know we’ve got to have the houses. It’s a big thing to take on. Every parish is looking at it.’

The proposed Cooks Lane development for 112 homes has been made by Seaward Properties. The large field is currently used as a horse paddock.
