Man arrested after van hits train heading to Portsmouth

ONE man has been arrested after a van hit a train which left widespread disruption

British Transport Police and Hampshire police were called at 18.18pm yesterday to the Prince’s Bridge Automatic Level Crossing, in Liss.

A spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to the line at Prince’s Bridge Automatic Level Crossing on Friday after reports a motor vehicle had struck a train.

‘It is currently being investigated.

‘One man has been arrested as a result. He has been arrested for endangering the safety of the railway.

‘The train involved was the 4.45pm London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour Service.

‘There are no further details at present.’

No one was injured and lines were opened again last night
