A WELL-established milk company is calling on its customers in Havant and the surrounding areas to nominate their milkman in a national competition.
Milk&more, one of the oldest doorstep delivery services in the country, has launched the Milkman of the Year competition to celebrate the British tradition of the milkman.
The competition aims to recognise the loyal service that milkmen and women provide to their local communities – with many going above and beyond the call of duty in the ways they look out for their customers, many of whom are elderly or housebound.
George Warry, depot manager at Havant and Chichester depots, said: ‘Many of the milk&more team have been working as milkmen and women for decades.
‘They have very much become part of their local communities and know their customers and areas well.
‘The milk delivery service has evolved over the last 100 years to ensure it remains as relevant today as it has always been.
‘Today you can order online and your milkman can deliver everything from your breakfast cereals to your garden compost as well as your daily pint!
‘The milk&more Milkman of the Year competition is a great way for customers to say thank you to their milkmen and women and to help ensure that this great British tradition remains for the next generation.’
If your milkman or woman has gone beyond the call of duty and you would like to thank them for providing a valuable service in your local community, now’s your chance to recognise that.
Voting can be done in one of three ways.
Customers can vote via the milk&more leaflets, online at milkandmore.co.uk/milkman or on the milk&more Facebook page, facebook.com/milkandmore, along with a brief explanation as to why their milkman or woman should win.
Nominations close on September 12, when milk&more will pick four regional winners and one overall national winner.
The results will be announced on November 5.
