THE region’s largest Roman residence will be the setting of modern mosaics – alongside 2,000-year-old examples.
Fishbourne Roman Palace, near Chichester, is welcoming back Malcolm Skipp, who will display more than 40 modern mosaics.
Mr Skipp uses marble, porcelain and other exotic glass to make his mosaics. He uses the hammer and hardie, the same tools that the Romans used to cut marble.
Phil Davies, head of operations, said: ‘It is fascinating to know this ancient technique is still practised.’ The exhibition runs from August 5 to 29.
