VISITORS to Blue Reef Aquarium in Southsea have helped raise nearly £500 for charity.

The money will go to shark conservation charity Fin Fighters.

The funds were raised during a weekend with shark-themed talks and activities.

There were shark activities in the aquarium’s school room for children including colouring, word searches and a ‘become a fin friend’ activity where youngsters wrote their name on little sharks and added them to a ‘shark chain’ to show their support for healthy shark populations.

Fin Fighters director Lou Ruddell said: ‘We had an incredible time at the aquarium and all of the visitors and staff were fantastic.

‘We have raised so much awareness for our charity and it’s great to see that people were genuinely interested in what we had to say.

‘Events like this are great for visitors as I feel they take home so much information about sharks which is brilliant.

‘We would like to thank everyone who donated to our charity it will be a great help for the future.’
