GENEROUS shoppers at Morrisons in Portsmouth have donated more than £1,000 of pet food and toys to Stubbington Ark Animal Shelter.

The supermarket reached the milestone last week, after customers raised £1,119.29 in the past six months for the Solent branch of the RSPCA.

Vanessa Eden, 52, RSPCA fundraising manager, said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted at how amazing the Morrisons shoppers have proved to be. The donations are vital to keep running the shelter.

‘Every bit of food and toys goes towards helping the animals in our care.’

Stubbington Ark in Fareham is the third largest animal shelter in the country. It houses up to 600 animals at a time, ranging from domestic to exotic animals.
