STUNNING paintings capturing the magic of Langstone Harbour have gone on display to raise money for an ancient church.

Renowned artist Sarah Butterfield, wife of Havant MP David Willetts, has put together an exhibition of 24 pieces inspired by the sunsets over Portsmouth, Langstone and Hayling Island.

The exhibition begins at 6pm tonight and continues from 11am until 7pm tomorrow.

A donation from the pictures sold will go towards the upkeep of St Faith’s Church, in Havant town centre.

Sarah, who was the official artist on Prince Charles’ tour of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India in 2007, said: ‘I was encouraged by a friend to look at the sunsets from Langstone.

‘And I find watching the sunset behind Portsmouth a fantastic view.

‘It changes all the time, it’s magical.’

The exhibition takes place at The Chapel, Langstone High Street.
