DOZENS of enterprising women took part in an event that they hope will boost their businesses even further.
Mumpreneurs is a business networking group for primarily female professionals who run their own businesses and also juggle the challenges of family life.
The Emsworth group meets monthly at the Brookfield Hotel and it’s for people who run businesses and want to get out, network and meet like-minded individuals.
Yesterday a panel of media experts were invited to Emsworth Mumpreneurs to give advice to more than 60 members – from as far afield as Portsmouth and West Sussex – on how to catch the eye of reporters and boost their businesses.
Panellists included journalists from The News and Etc Magazine.
Emma Weatherstone, the manager of the Emsworth group, said: ‘As well as women, we also have a lot of men who come and join us because they see what a lot of fun we have.
‘The PR event went really well.
‘Everyone learned so much about how to get their businesses out there and online, in magazines and in the papers.
‘There was a huge diversity of businesses represented – jewellers, beauty therapists, pole dancers and artists.
‘And, although we’re called the Mumpreneurs Networking Club, some fellows join us too because they like the way we do things – they like the energy and dynamics.’
Mumpreneurs Networking Club was set up six years ago by Nicky Chisholm and Sara Guiel, both from Sussex.
The pair have five children between them.
Finding it almost impossible to attend the traditional business networking meetings because they were held at times when they were tied up looking after their children, they decided to set up a club aimed at busy mumpreneurs.
Their motto is ‘never underestimate the power of a good gossip’.
The next meeting of Emsworth Mumpreneurs Networking Club is May 12.
The first meeting is free. Go to mumpreneursnetworkingclub.co.uk
