MUSICIANS are being invited to take part in a bandstand marathon to close the London 2012 Olympics.

The Plaza at Eastoke Corner, Hayling Island, and Waterlooville Precinct will be just two of hundreds of outdoor, community concerts taking place simultaneously across the country on September 9.

Music of all types is welcomed. Bands, groups, choirs and individual musicians are being sought to perform, helping to make the musical extravaganza truly memorable and create a cultural legacy.

‘We’re very proud to support the bandstand marathon,’ said Havant councillor Leah Turner, who represents Hayling East.

‘It’s a great opportunity for people on Hayling Island and in Waterlooville to celebrate the close of a year of sporting and cultural achievements that the country can be proud of.’

The events begin at 1pm. For details about getting involved call the Bandstand Marathon team at Superact on 01823 332413 or go to
